I’m real big on meditation. I try to do it everyday, and especially after a good yoga session. It gives me clarity, puts my mind at ease, and plus makes me want to tackle the day and other goals. If anything else, it also makes me sleep better at night and who doesn’t love that?
I used to have a favorite app but it unexpectedly shut down earlier this year. In the hunt of new enlightenment, I went online and saw several people recommend Insight Timer.
It’s a FREE app so I decided to give it a go! Here’s what I found:
Not that you would care, but there are some enlightened celebrities on there. Goldie Hawn, Russell Brand, and Gisele “Mrs. Tom Brady.” For real. I was pleasantly surprised. While I can’t speak to Goldie’s and Russell’s meditations, I personally found Mrs. Tom Brady’s meditations very soothing. Go figure.
There are different meditations for your different moods. Let’s say you want to ensure a peaceful night’s sleep; there’s a meditation for that. If you’re a bad mood and you want to quickly change it, there’s a meditation for that. You want to open up your chakras and receive what the universe has for you, there’s a meditation for that. You really can’t go wrong here.
They have different meditation lengths for those in a hurry or for those who want to spend a bit more time getting to their zen. There are also some paid workshops one can attend online for more clarity. Maybe you need help with forgiveness and letting go? Maybe you need to find your purpose? Maybe you just want to go ‘Ohmmmmm’ for a few minutes and forget about the world?
After using the app for about a month, I can honestly say it’s one of my new favorite favorites. In conjunction with my daily yoga practice, I am more at peace and I feel a calmness I haven’t had in a long while. With everything going on in the world and seemingly a mass shooting every day now, I need that peace in my life.
So, I highly recommend it!
